Archibald MacAskill was the son of Angus MacAskill and Marion Munro, cottars on 11/12 Ruisgarry. Born in 1890, he attended Berneray School from 1897. His father obtained 6 Borve in 1900, to which the family moved.
Archie became a crofter, lobster fisherman and yachtsman. He married Mary Ann Munro, with whom he was to have a family of six children. Their marital home was at 11/12 Ruisgarry (Quay) which Archie was passed from his cousin Neil MacAskill.
Following Archie's death in March 1947 - he was found dead in his boat - the croft was passed to his son Angus.
