Mary Ann was born in 1862, the daughter of Murdo MacLeod and Marion MacKay, cottars on 1/2 Ruisgarry (Sandhill). She became a domestic servant, acting as housekeeper for her brother John in 1891.
She married Norman MacLeod of Ludag in 1896. Together they were to have four children, living at ‘house 4’ Ludag.
