Ann Shaw was born in about 1854, the daughter of Kenneth Shaw and Mary MacLeod, cottars on 1/2 Ruisgarry (Sandhill). In 1864 the family moved to 13 Ruisgarry (Sunhill).
Ann, who never married, became a domestic servant, and was employed by Kenneth MacLeod in 1891. By 1901 Ann was working as a wool spinner.
