74236: Taskill MacAskill

Taskill, born about 1806, was the son of crofter James MacAskill and Christina MacAskill of old Borve. Taskill married Sibla MacCusbic, also of Borve. Together they were to have ten children, living at Sheabie, where Taskill farmed. The ruins of their home, Tobhta agus Buaile Thasgaill, are mentioned in The place names of Berneray.

However in 1854 the crofts were cleared for the creation of Borve Farm. The family became cottars at a new home at Ferry, where Taskill made a living as a ferryman. He passed away from consumption in 1880.
