74346: Mary MacAskill

Mary MacAskill was the daughter of John MacAskill and Effie MacLeod, cottars on 17 Ruisgarry (Brusda) then 9 Ruisgarry (Gunhill). Born in 1897, she attended Berneray School between 1903 and 1911.

The family moved to 2 Rhuvanish shortly before her mother’s death in 1908. In 1911 Mary was living with her aunt Margaret at a neighbouring property, ‘house 45’. Mary later emigrated to the United States of America.
