Ann Ferguson, born about 1795, was the daughter of Roderick Ferguson and Margaret MacLeod. Following her father's death, her mother remarried - to Roderick MacAskill.
Ann married widower Donald MacKillop, a farmer in old Ruisgarry, with whom she was to have a family of nine children. In 1850 he obtained 10 Ruisgarry (Gunhill). Donald died around 1853, and widow Ann was removed to become a cottar at Quay. She died of supposed consumption in 1863, and the house at Quay was passed to son Roderick.
