Roderick MacAskill

Roderick MacAskill, born 1803, was the son of Neil MacAskill and Mary MacRailt of Berneray. He became a farmer and married Mary MacKillop of Ruisgarry, where they lived until about 1845. At that time the Ruisgarry crofts were reorganised and the family moved to Borve as cottars. When Borve became a farm in 1854, the family moved to Stornoway. Together, Roderick and Mary had nine children.
