74766: Margaret MacLeod

Margaret, born in 1896, was the daughter of John MacLeod and Marion MacAskill, cottars on 1/2 Ruisgarry (Sandhill) and later crofters at 10 Ruisgarry (Gunhill). She attended Berneray School between 1902 and 1910, later working on her father’s croft, before becoming a cook.

In 1929 Margaret married merchant Alexander MacLean of 8 Borve, with whom she was to have a son. They made their home at 16 Backhill. Margaret passed away in 1939.
