75637: Effie MacLeod
Effie was born in 1921, the youngest child of Norman MacLeod and Marion MacLeod of 5 Borve. She attended Berneray School from 1928, leaving for Inverness Royal Academy. Effie became a teacher and eventually headteacher at Berneray School.
Effie and her husband made their home on 15 Ruisgarry (Trealigarry). In 1981 she moved to the newly built An Cnoc Àrd in Backhill, subsequently moving to Bealach an Fhuarain. That property passed to her nephew Fred following her death.
Effie made several sound recordings for the School of Scottish Studies, including many Gaelic proverbs. These are available on the Tobar an Dualchais website, and can be accessed through her biography page.
