Iain Iain Iain
John (1876-1948) was a son of John Mackay and Isabella Maclennan, 28 Gravir. In the late 1870 the family obtained 41 Gravir and the crofts were merged registered under 28 Gravir.
At Fraserburgh, in 1902, he married Catherine Morrison, 9b Calbost. John and Catherine settled at 28 Gravir and they had four children.
John was a fisherman on the Mary and a General Labourer with the Lewis and Harris Development Company. He served in the Labour Corps in the First World War and is mentioned in Loyal Lewis: Roll of Honour 1914-1918.
The family later moved to 12 Glenside, Gravir.
