Ann, known as Annie, was born in 1899, the daughter of Angus MacKillop and Effie Munro of Baile, and later of 13 Borve, which her father was assigned in 1900. She started attending Berneray School in 1905. In due course she married Donald John MacLean of 8 Borve and they emigrated to Vancouver, as did three of Annie's siblings.
