76116: John Munro

John was born in 1871, the son of Malcolm Munro and Mary Campbell of 19 Ruisgarry (Brusda), which passed to John following his father’s death in 1896. His mother died in 1907, not long after sister Mary Ann’s death. John became guardian of two of Mary Ann’s children, Malcolm and Mary Ann, who lived at 19 Ruisgarry with John and his sister Mary.

John worked as a fisherman and crofter. He married Catherine MacDonald from 8 Knockline, North Uist. They had a son, Malcolm John, to whom the croft was passed following John’s death.
