77242: Mary MacRailt

Mary, born 1771, was the daughter of Norman MacRailt of Borve. Mary married Neil MacAskill, with whom she had at least six children. Her husband held crofts in both Borve and Ruisgarry, although the family was living in Ruisgarry in 1841. By 1845, when Ruisgarry was being re-organised by the landowner into larger crofts, Mary and her husband seem to have moved to Obbe with their widowed daughter Isabella. Mary continued to live with Isabella following Norman’s death, and is assumed to have died about 1855.
