John (1895-1950) was a son of Donald Matheson and Christy Macmillan, 30 Gravir.
John was a fisherman on the Handy and served in the First World War in the Cameron Highlanders. He was wounded several times and is mentioned in Loyal Lewis: Roll of Honour 1914-1918.
At Stornoway, in 1927, he married Christina Macaskill, 17 Southside Gravir. John and Christina settled at 30 Gravir and they had six children.
