8309: John Fraser, Reverend

John Fraser (1752-1792). latterly of Keose Manse, was born in Inverness-shire in 1752, John was educated at King’s College, Aberdeen and obtained his MA on 31st March 1772. He was then licensed by the Presbytery of Chanonry on 28th November 1781 and subsequently was ordained missionary in Stornoway on 13th October 1784. He became Minister in Lochs on 1st December 1784. He died aged 39 or 40, still Minister of the Parish. in 1792.

Whether he was unwell in the latter years of his life is not known, but his successor, Reverend Alexander Simpson, was ordained an assistant in the parish on 28th March 1789 and admitted, after the death ofJohn Fraser, as Minister of the charge on 12th March 1793.
