John (1868-1923) was a son of Donald Nicolson and Christy Matheson 32 Gravir. He was a General Labourer for the Lewis and Harris Development Company.
At Fraserburgh, in 1894, John married Peggy Mackinnon, 6 Torostay. John and Peggy settled at 32 Gravir and they had nine children.
John served in the 4th Battalion of the Seaforth Highlanders in the First World War and his name is mentioned in Loyal Lewis: Roll of Honour 1914-1918.
