Donald John (1899-1989) was a son of John Nicolson and Peggy Mackinnon of 32 Gravir.
He served in the Royal Scots Fusiliers in the First World War and is mentioned in Loyal Lewis: Roll of Honour 1914-1918.
On April 26, 1924 he emigrated to Canada on the SS Marloch from Stornoway to Quebec. He later returned to Lewis.
At Stornoway, in 1929, he married Christina Macmillan of 3 Gravir. Donald John and Christina settled at 32 Gravir and they had three children.
