Mary Macdonald

Mary (1912-1919) was the daughter of John Macdonald and Catherine Macdonald of 1b North Tolsta.

Her mother died in 1915.

She was orphaned on 1st January 1919, when her father drowned in the Iolaire disaster.

Mary died five weeks after she was orphaned, on the 2nd February 1919, at the age of seven. Her death was due to pneumonia, which followed an incident where she was hit in the back by a ram. However, the Stornoway Gazette of 7th February 1919 gives her cause of death as diptheria.
