90852: Rev. John Mackenzie

John  (born 1841) was the son of Murdo Mackenzie and Margaret Macdonald; it is not clear where the family were living at the time of his birth. His father had connections to Ness and Stornoway and his mother to Stornoway. 

From the late 1840s to the mid 1850s his father was school master in Coll and the family lived in the Schoolhouse Coll.

In the mid 1850s the family moved to Garrabost, where his father became schoolmaster.

John became a minister.

John married Ann Murray whose family had originally lived at 4a North Tolsta. Ann’s family had emigrated to Quebec in 1853 prior to her birth.
