91148: Murdo Murray

Murdo (1799-1872) was the son of Murdo Murray and Margaret Mackay; it is not certain where the family were living at the time of his birth.

There is no sign of his father’s name on the rental lists for Old North Galson in 1807, but by 1819 his father’s name is listed and the family were settled at 24 Old North Galson.

Murdo married Gormelia Campbell, of 1 Old South Tolsta, but it is not clear where the couple initially settled or where their first four children were born. In 1830 they obtained 2 Old South Tolsta and had a further five children there.

In 1853 they moved to 7 North Tolsta. In due course 7 North Tolsta passed to their youngest son: John.
