91283: Torquil Macdonald

Torquil (1887-1963) was the son of John Macdonald and Christina Campbell of 13b  North Tolsta. Torquil’s mother died in 1891 and his father remarried; the family moved to 9 North Tolsta as cottars.

Torquil married Margaret Graham of 9 North Tolsta. Margaret was the daughter of his step mother. The couple settled at 9 New Tolsta and had no family.

In due course 9 New Tolsta passed to the couple’s half sister Christina Macdonald.

Torquil authored letters about about fishing in 19th century Tolsta, which can be found in the Summer 2001 edition of Seanchas.
