91289: William Macdonald
William (1877-1966) was the son of Donald Macdonald and Christina Mackenzie of 48 North Tolsta.
William joined the Seaforth Militia and served in Cairo during the Boer War.
William married Margaret Nicolson, of 9 North Tolsta, and the couple settled at 48 North Tolsta. They had eight children: five boys and three girls.
In 1907 their eldest son Murdo died in infancy.
During the First World War William served with the Seaforth Highlanders.
In May 1918 their youngest daughter, Christina, died of measles aged 11 months.
In due course 48 North Tolsta passed to their son, Murdo.
