91387: George Murray

George (1821-1901) was the son of John Murray and Catherine Morrison; it is not certain where the family were living at the time of his birth.

By 1833 the family were living at 15 Old Back.

In 1845 George obtained 25 Old North Tolsta  as a newly lotted croft.

On the 18th of January 1846 George married Mary Maciver, of 3 Old North Tolsta, and the couple settled at 25 Old North Tolsta and had their first three children.

In 1851 his parents obtained 9 Back.

In 1854, after Old North Tolsta had been decrofted to make way for Tolsta Farm, the family obtained 45 North Tolsta as a newly lotted croft. The couple had their final three children there. In total they had six children: four girls and two boys.

In 1863 three of their children died.

In due course their daughter, Annie, became a cottar at 45 North Tolsta, but 44 North Tolsta eventually passed to their eldest son John.
