91416: Norman Maciver

Norman (1907-1992) was the son of Norman Maciver and Isabella Murray of 11 North Tolsta.

Norman married Margaret Maciver of 72 North Tolsta. It is not clear where the couple initially settled or where their first two children were born. Eventually the family settled as cottars, in a house Norman built, at 11 North Tolsta. Their third child was born there.

They left Tolsta and moved to Stornoway and the cottars house was sold to Alexander Maciver. They lived at several addresses in Stornoway, the last being 52 Manor Park.

In approximately 1952 the couple and their six children emigrated to Canada.

The family returned to Scotland in the 1970s, initially to Inverness. After a few years Norman and his wife returned to the Isle of Lewis, to 3 Knock, Point; they built a new house at 3 Knock.
