91564: Evander Maciver

Evander (1835-1915) was the son of Alexander Maciver and Isabella Maciver of 23 Old South Tolsta.

Evander’s father died, in approximately 1845, but his mother obtained 14/15 North Tolsta in the 1851 croft relottings.

In 1854 14/15 North Tolsta was divided with Evander’s family retaining 14 North Tolsta.

Evander married Ann Maciver, of 32 North Tolsta. During their early marriage the couple were cottars at 14 North Tolsta and had their first two children there.

In 1872 the family obtained 72 North Tolsta as a newly lotted croft and settled there. The couple had a further six children at 72 North Tolsta; in total they had eight children: five girls and three boys.

In due course 72 North Tolsta passed to their son Murdo.
