Ann Maciver

Ann (1844-1930) was the daughter of Donald Maciver and Margaret Maclean, of 8 Old North Tolsta.

In 1853 the family obtained 32 North Tolsta, after the previous occupant emigrated to Huron Township, Ontario.

When Ann was 13, in 1857, her mother died. Her father remarried widow, Anne Smith. Ann gained a step sister and six half siblings from this marriage.

Ann married Evander Maciver of 14 North Tolsta and settled there with him as cottars; the couple had two children there.

In 1872 the family obtained 72 North Tolsta as a newly lotted croft. The couple had a further six children at 72 North Tolsta, in total they had eight children: five girls and three boys.

Ann was widowed in 1915.

In due course 72 North Tolsta passed to their son Murdo.
