91799: John Murray

John (1873-1952) was the son of Murdo Murray and Ann Campbell; the family were cottars at 47 North Tolsta.

In 1874 the family obtained 71 North Tolsta as a newly lotted croft.

He married Mary Maciver, of 19c North Tolsta, and the couple settled at 71 North Tolsta and had two children: a boy and a girl. Their daughter died in infancy.  He was widowed in 1901.

He went on to marry Christina Maciver, of 26 North Tolsta, and the couple settled at 71 North Tolsta and had ten children: three boys and seven girls. Two of these children died in infancy and one in early childhood. In due course 71 North Tolsta passed to his youngest son: John.
