Catherine (born 1835) was the daughter of Roderick Macleod and Margaret Smith of 20 Old South Tolsta.

During the 1851 croft relottings the family obtained 20 North Tolsta.

Catherine married Donald Macdonald, of 37 North Tolsta, and the couple settled at 37 North Tolsta as cottars. They had their first four children prior to emigrating to Lake Megantic, Canada, in 1873.

Once in settled at Lake Megantic the couple had a further two children.
