Donald Smith
Donald (1872-1931) was the son of Alexander Smith and Mary Maciver. The family were cottars at 24 North Tolsta.
Donald married Isabella Macleod, of 56 North Tolsta, and the couple initially settled as cottars at 11 North Tolsta.
At some point they settled, as cottars, at 56 North Tolsta. It is not certain at which of these two addresses their children were born; they had eleven children: six boys and five girls.
During World War One Donald served with the Seaforth Highlanders.
In 1922 Donald acquired 11 New Tolsta, as a newly lotted croft.
In due course 11 New Tolsta passed to their son Donald.
