Mary (born 1826) was the daughter of Murdo Mackenzie and Isabella Macleod; it is not certain where the family were living at the time of her birth, there are links to Old South Tolsta Tack on her mother's side and Lionel on her father's.
In 1830, during the croft lottings, her maternal grandparents obtained 28 Old South Tolsta, in due course this passed to her father.
Mary married, widower, John Murray, of 6 Old South Tolsta and settled there with him and her two step daughters: Mary and Ann. The couple had two children at 6 Old South Tolsta.
In 1851, during the croft relottings, the family obtained 37 North Tolsta and had child there.
In 1853, the family emigrate to the Eastern Townships of Quebec. Once in Quebec they had a further five children.
In total Mary had eight children: four boys and four girls.
