92459: John Morrison
John (1946-1982) was the son of Murdo Morrison and Annie Campbell of 31 North Tolsta.
In 1947 a fire destoyed their house. His father smashed a window and jumped out with him, and his mother and sisters followed; his mother was injured. The fire was out of control by the time the fire brigade arrived and only the scullery and barn were saved; all furniture and clothing was lost. The family stayed at 34 North Tolsta for the remainder of the night. This was all reported in The Stornoway News on the 10th of October 1947.
John became a Captain in the Merchant Navy.
He never married.
He built the house at Windyridge, North Tolsta, but was taken ill shortly after and never lived there.
