Murdo (born 1836) was the son of Donald Maciver and Margaret Maclean; it is not certain where the family were living at the time of his birth. His paternal grandparents were living at 22 Old South Tolsta and his maternal grandparents were from 31 Habost.
In 1841 the family obtained 8 Old North Tolsta after the previous occupants emigrated to the Eastern Townships of Quebec.
In 1853 the family obtained 32 North Tolsta after the previous occupant emigrated to Huron Township, Ontario.
Murdo married Margaret Macleod of 36 North Tolsta.
In 1873 the couple settled at 57 North Tolsta after the previous occupant, William Finlayson, moved to 10 North Tolsta.
In 1875 the couple emigrated to Lingwick, Quebec. 57 North Tolsta passed to Alexander Graham.
