John (1858-1910) was the son of John Maclennan and Isabella Murray, of 35 North Tolsta.

John married Isabella Macleod, of 11 Ballantrushal, and the couple settled as cottars at 35 North Tolsta. They had approximately 12 children, nine of whom died in infancy, there is a memorial stone to Isabella and these nine children in North Tolsta Cemetery.

It is not clear what happened to the cottars house after the couple died, as their three surviving children settled in either Gress or elsewhere in North Tolsta.
