Murdo (1807-1872) was the son of Evander Maciver and Mary Macleod. It is not certain where the family were living at the time of his birth.
In 1820 Murdo's father's name appears on the sub-tenants list of Old South Tolsta Tack.
In 1830, during the croft lottings, the family obtained 21 Old South Tolsta.
Murdo married Catherine Macdonald, of Back, and, in 1834, Murdo obtained 8 Old South Tolsta. The couple had their first child the following year. In total they had seven children: four girls and three boys.
In 1851, during the croft relottings, the family obtained 41 North Tolsta; their final child was born the same year.
Their daughter Mary became a cottar at 41 North Tolsta, but in due course 41 North Tolsta passed to their son Alexander.
