93079: George Murray
George (1882-1976) was the son of John Murray and Margaret Maciver, of 45 North Tolsta.
George joined the Seaforth Militia and served at the garrison in Cairo during the Boer War.
George married Annie Macleod, of 59 North Tolsta, and the couple settled at 45 North Tolsta, which George inherited, and had nine children: six girls and three boys.
George ran a bus service to Stornoway. Initially he worked in partnership with Evander Maciver, of 43 North Tolsta, but later separately.
During World War One George served with the Royal Navy.
George was widowed in 1935.
In due course 45 North Tolsta passed to their daughter: Kate Ann.
