Rev Murdo Macleod

Rev Murdo Macleod

Murdo Macleod (1880-1955) was the son of Kenneth Macleod and Mary Macdonald, of 56 North Tolsta.

Murdo became a monitor at North Tolsta Junior Secondary School.

He married Agnes Fleck, of Kirkintilloch, in 1902; they had one son, Austin Kenneth (1909-1959)(49).

Murdo emigrated to Canada as a missionary with the Baptist church and later became a minister, firstly in Toledo, Ohio, transferring to the Presbyterian Church in 1920 where, from 1922, he held several pastorships in New York state, retiring in 1952 to live in Fairhaven, NY, on the shores of Lake Ontario. During World War One he was an Army Chaplin, for the US Army (It may have been then that he adopted the middle name Donaldson to distinguish him from others). He had a book entitled 'My Good Fortune' published in Geneva, NY, in 1936.
