94512: Murdo Morrison
Murdo (1930-1998) was the son of Angus Morrison and Ann Macleod of South View, North Tolsta.
He married a woman from Lower Shader and settled with her in Tong, Lewis. They had three daughters and a set of twins: one boy and one girl; the twins died in infancy.
Murdo was a fisherman for most of his life and had a share in the vessel Old Comrade SY337 for a time. He was also a keen bard and wrote many songs.
In 1989 his daughter, Anne, died, at the age of 29, saving her two children from a car fire in Inverness.
In 2004 his wife compiled recordings of him singing his songs and created a CD titled “Tolstadh bho Thuath: In memory of Murdo Harry”.
