95314: John Mackenzie

John (born 1817) was the son of Murdo Mackenzie and Margaret Macrae; it is not known where the family were living at the time of his birth. There is a connection to Gress Mill, but it is not clear if John lived there himself.

In 1833 the family obtained 8 Old South Tolsta and settled there. In1834 they left to become cottars in Old Back.

In 1851 John’s parents obtained 46 Back and settled there.

John married Ann Mackenzie, of Back, and the couple settled at 73 Coll and had eight children.

In 1873 they emigrated to the Eastern Townships of Quebec.
