95321: Donald Mackenzie

Donald (1828-1878) was the son of Murdo Mackenzie and Margaret Macrae; it is not known where the family lived at the time of his birth. However, both of his parents had links to Gress.

In 1833 the family obtained 8 Old South Tolsta and settled there, but left in 1834 to become cottars in Old Back.

In 1851 the family obtained 46 Back and settled there.

In due course 46 Back passed to Donald.

Donald married Henrietta Murray, of 15 Old Back, and the couple settled at 46 Back.

Henrietta married Donald Mackenzie, of 46 Back, and the couple settled at 46 Back. They had seven children: Catherine, John, Donald, Margaret, Alexander, Christina and Alexander.

In due course their daughters Christina and Catherine settled on 46 Back as a cottars, but 46 Back eventually passed to their son Donald.
