LOCAL AND DISTRICT NEWS – UIG

February 8, 1918

NURSING COMMITTEE – After the previous meeting a meeting of the Local Nursing Association was held to consider the resignation of Nurse McCloy as District Nurse. Her resignation was accepted, in the circumstances, with respect, it was decided to take immediate steps in order to secure the services of another capable Gaelic speaking nurse. It was pointed out that a first-class nurse was essential for this district, because on many occasions she would have to act without the guidance and help of the doctor, as his residence at Garynahine is upwards of thirty miles from some of our townships and access to and from there is often dangerous, and sometimes even impossible.
