103178: Donald Maciver

Donald (1899-1986) was a son of Malcolm Maciver and Mary Macarthur. His father was a soldier in the Seaforth Highlanders, Fort George, Inverness. The family moved to Dingwall Barracks and later settled at  10 Knock Carloway. They later moved to Tayvallich, Knock Carloway.

Donald worked for the Royal Bank of Scotland. He is believed to have started the Travelling Bank in the Isle of Lewis.

At Hillhead, Glasgow, in 1930, he married Jane Begg Macdonald from Kilmarnock.  The couple initially lived in Glasgow and then moved to Stornoway. They lived at Bank House, North Beach Street and they had five children.

Donald was widowed in 1958.
