In 1910 the Ottowa went on a rock in Caolas Minig, off Pabbay; her keel was broken. The owner John Maciver sadly lost his life but the others on board, his brother Angus and Alexander "Sanag" Macdonald, made it to a rock at Pabbay in a place called Rubha na h-Eughadh. They called out from there and were heard in Valtos. The people of Valtos claimed that shouting had been heard from there long ago.
