29168: Post Office, Laxay
The first Post Office in Laxay was opened by Malcolm Macleod (Calum an Mhoir) at 29 Laxay in 1886. Malcolm ran the Post Office for 32 years before retiring in 1918.
Donald Maciver, 13b Laxay then took over the running of the Post Office from 13b Laxay up until his death in 1928 when his son Iain took over. Iain remained as the Postmaster until his retirement in 1985, providing the community with good and loyal service for a total of 57 years.
