45529: 10 Doune Carloway

The first tenant of this croft was Malcolm Macgregor, 10 Tolsta Chaolais. When Doune was cleared in 1853, Malcolm and his family emigrated to Ontario, Canada. The next tenant was John Macleod from Mangersta, Uig and his son Murdo took over the tenancy. Murdo and his wife Mary had no family and the croft passed to Mary’s brother, Finlay, 15 Borrowson and on his death, his brother-in-law, Donald Macleod, 5 Garenin settled on the croft.
