Malcolm MacAskill

Malcolm, born in 1798, was the son of Angus MacAskill and Effie MacLeodof Pabbay, then Berneray. Malcolm married Catherine, whose maiden name is unknown. Together they were to have at least seven children. Malcolm farmed in Borve and is listed on the tenancy list for 1830, paying annual rent of £5.15s. His mother was living with his family at the time of the 1841 census. By 1854, when Borve crofts had been cleared for Borve Farm, the family was living as cottars. A year later they emigrated to Australia on the Royal Albert.
