Iain Iain Mhurchaidh
John (1874-1913) was a son of John Macritchie and Margaret Macleod, 21 Gravir. His father died the year he was born and the family moved to 48 Leurbost.
On April 2, 1901 he enrolled in the Royal Naval Reserve Service Number X4846 and re-enrolled under QA3498, B76 and C2130. His records indicate that he was 5ft 5in tall with brown eyes, a fresh complexion, an x at the base of his right thumb and gave a date of birth of September 14, 1877. John was a fisherman on Stornoway registered fishing boats.
At Fraserburgh, in 1905, he married Catherine Nicolson, 27 Lemreway. John and Catherine settled at 48 Leurbost and they had a daughter Kate.
John died of Stomach Cancer in 1913
