Mary (born 1887) was a daughter of Angus Macleod and Christina Macdonald, 18 Crowlista. She moved with her family to 8 Crowlista. Later she moved to Ness with her grandmother, Marion Martin. She went to school there and was brought up in the Manse from then on. In Ness, she met Norman Maclean, Knockaird, Ness when he was home on holiday from New Zealand. Mary went out there to marry him and remained there, living in Napier. She sailed from Southampton to make the journey and Mary's uncle accompanied her to the port.

Mary and Norman had a son and daughter.
