111255: Mary Graham

Mary Graham (died 1818) was the first wife of John Martin, of the Isle of Harris and later Ardroil. It is not known where the couple lived during their marriage.

They had a son in 1810 and a daughter in 1818, it is known they had more children but the details are not certain. John was widowed in 1818 so it is likely Mary died in childbirth.

The family are known to have spent a short time in Melbost (near Stornoway) but it is not clear if Mary was still alive at that time.

Mary’s widower remarried and went on to have a further six children. Towards the end of his life he settled at 33 Old South Tolsta, it is not known if Mary’s daughter Margaret was still living with her father at this point.
