Mary, born 1833, was the daughter of Norman Paterson and Ann MacLeod of Borve. Their home was probably at the site now known as Tobhta Thormoid ‘ic Shomhairle. In 1854, with the clearance of the crofts for Borve Farm, the family was moved to Meavaig South. Mary married Malcolm MacLeod of 3 Meavaig South, who had similarly moved from Berneray. They made their home at 2 Kendebig.
