Donald, born 1839, was the son of John MacLeod and Chirsty MacLeod of Pabbay. The family was moved to Borve, Berneray by 1851. They were moved again in 1854, with the clearance of crofts for Borve Farm. Now living in Scalpay, Donald married twice, firstly to Chirsty MacLeod of Urgha, secondly to Margaret Morrison of 25 Scalpay.
